The Elder Stats Rules and Guidelines
As a member of The Elder Stats, you have access to the many various features of The Elder Stats system. However, in order to be continually granted access to these features, we kindly ask that you remain in compliance with the following rules and guidelines.
Rules
Rule #1: No Posting Foul Language or Material. Please refrain from posting any words or material that may contain any of the following: inappropriate language, inappropriate images, viruses, virus threats, false information about any person or subject, illegal content, copyrighted content, unauthorized content, cracks, warez, malicious code, etc. Occasional slips of the tongue with minorly-offensive words is acceptable at the discretion of the Board of Moderation. #
Rule #2: No Aggressive Arguing with Members. If a member is giving you a hard time or if you're just bored, please do not start arguing with members and using bad language. Do not try to set anyone else off and do not set yourself off. If you have a problem with a member who is causing you to want to argue, send a private message to any Board of Moderation member for help. They will try to help you the best they can. #
Rule #3: Respect Administrators and Moderators on The Elder Stats. The administrators and moderators (Board of Moderation) work very hard to keep this website and forum family-friendly and free of spam and spammers. Please respect us and our duty to do so. Please do not argue with us if we lock or delete a topic or post you have created on the forum, or if we lock or hide a character profile of yours. If we do so, it is most likely for a good reason. If you are ever banned from The Elder Stats and don't know why, please e-mail an administrator and let them know your situation. If you were banned for a specific reason and want to be unbanned, please e-mail an administrator and send a kind apology for whatever you did that was wrong. Do not argue with any administrators or moderators when you are banned or corrected for not following the rules. #
Rule #4: Respect Other Members. Please also respect the other members of The Elder Stats. We want all of our members to feel safe and secure and, most important, enjoy their experience on this website. Please refrain from arguing with other members and try to maintain peace and calm conversation with other members on the forum. However, we always welcome good spirited debates on our forum! #
Rule #5: No Advertising/Spamming. We do not permit the advertising of outside websites and businesses on The Elder Stats website and forum. Any content posted concerning advertising of an outside website or business without permission from the Board of Moderation will automatically be deleted on sight and you will be warned. If it continues to happen, you will be banned for a short amount of time. Also, please do not spam on the website or forum. An example of spam would be posting a meaningless topic or post that contains merely a jumble of letters and words that make absolutely no sense. We will warn and ban members who do this repeatedly. You may, however, post links to any websites in your forum signatures that comply with Rule #1 of The Elder Stats Rules and Guidelines and with the Signature Guidelines. #
Rule #6: No Creating Multiple User Accounts. We do not want members that are already registered on The Elder Stats creating second or more accounts. Having one account is enough, so please do not create more than one account on this website. Don't try to make a second account and have everyone thinking it is someone else when it is really you. That is just stupid and it is a violation of The Elder Stats Rules and Guidelines. Oh, and in case you think we can't catch you if you create multiple accounts, you are wrong. If we see that you and another user have posted with the same IP Address even once, we will send you a private message asking you why this is so. If you do not answer us or say something stupid or wrong in return, we will delete the other account that you created and you will be banned for 1 week on your first offense. So, please, don't create more than one account on The Elder Stats. #
Rule #7: No Excessive Flaming. We understand that some members will get caught up in flame wars with other members and we allow this to a certain extent because debating is what a forum is all about. We will try to calm members in flame wars down but we won't delete flaming posts unless asked to do so. However, if certain members are flaming other members constantly, we will being to take action. Members who flame other members constantly will have all of their flaming posts deleted and could suffer ban time. If you are being pestered with threatening or otherwise unwanted private messages from other members, please contact a member of the Board of Moderation and they should be able to take care of the problem effectively for you. #
Rule #8: No Posting Incorrect or False Information in Character Profiles. The main purpose of The Elder Stats is to provide a fun and useful community for Oblivion players to post statistics for their characters in Oblivion and share those statistics with other Oblivion fans, or get advice on how they're doing with their characters. Therefore, it would be quite thoughtless to post false or incorrect statistical data for any of your Oblivion characters on The Elder Stats. Doing so eliminates the fun of the website, and you won't get away with it for very long. If a Board of Moderation member sees a character profile that contains some fairly unbelievable statistics in it, they have the right to hide that character profile from public view and contact the author of that character profile asking them for proof of these statistics. Also, if any member runs across a character profile containing statistics that look false, you have the ability to report this character profile to The Elder Stats staff using the "Report This Profile" link on the Options menu above every character profile. Seriously, though, what is the point of posting false statistics for your characters? It only ruins the fun of The Elder Stats for you, so please don't do it. #
Rule #9: Please Report All Non-Compliant Content. The Board of Moderation tries their best to keep The Elder Stats free from content that is against The Elder Stats Rules and Guidelines. However, it is nearly impossible for the Board of Moderation to review every single article of content that is entered into our databases. Therefore, we rely on other trustworthy members to report any content that they find not in compliance with The Elder Stats Rules and Guidelines. If you ever see any content such as a character profile, forum post, or profile comment that is not in compliance with these rules and guidelines, we kindly ask that you report this content immediately using the Report features located near each article of content. Reporting content that you find not in compliance with these rules and guidelines is always much appreciated by the Board of Moderation, and each report you send will be reviewed by the Board for validity. If the report is found to be valid, then the necessary actions will be taken to take care of the situation. #
Rule #10: If a Character of Yours Uses Exploits, You Must Indicate it Properly in the UCP. There are exploits (cheats, tricks...whatever you want to call it) in Oblivion that, when used, allow the player to raise certain statistics for their character above the set limit defined by the game. In order to accommodate all types of characters, you are allowed to post the stats for your character even if they have been increased by using exploits. However, you must make it known that you have used exploits to increase stats for that character. There are two things you must do to signify that you've used exploits for a character of yours: first, when you are on the character modification page in the UCP, if the character you are modifying has used exploits, you must find the "Do You Use Exploits" field in Section #1 of the page and set that option to "Yes". Second, under the "Do You Use Exploits" field in Section #1 you will see a text box labeled "Exploits Used" - you must briefly describe each exploit that you have used for that character in that text box. As long as you do those two things when modifying a character that uses exploits, your character should be in full compliance with this rule. Please note that the use of the Console to increase a character's statistics should also be noted in the "Exploits Used" field. If a character of yours is found to have remarkably high statistics in its profile, and a moderator asks you why this is so, this most likely means that the moderator did not see any recognition of the use of exploits for that character in that character's profile. If this is the case, then you have no excuse for not having done the required actions to indicate that exploits have been used for that character. At that point, that character's profile may be hidden by the moderator until you have defined the proper requirements to show that you have used exploits for that character. #
Rule #11: If a Character Has Made Use of the Oghma Infinium, You Must Indicate it Properly in the UCP. This rule is quite similar to what is described in Rule #10. There is an item in Oblivion called the Oghma Infinium, and it can be used to raise a character's attributes above 100 - the maximum cap. Using the Oghma Infinium is not like using exploits. Although we do not care if you use exploits or the Oghma Infinium, we do care if you indicate it properly. In the User Control Panel (UCP), when you go to modify one of your characters, there is a field in the Section #1 - Primary Information box that is labeled "Oghma Infinium". There are two options next to it: "Yes" and "No". We kindly ask that, if you have used the Oghma Infinium with the character, would you select the "Yes" option next to the "Oghma Infinium" field in the UCP. If you have attributes that are over 100 and you have not listed any exploits in your character's profile, the Board of Moderation will not be compelled to question you as long as you have the "Oghma Infinium" field marked as "Yes". This is the proper way to indicate that the character of yours has used the Oghma Infinium. Your character will not be marked as having used exploits if you mark "Yes" for the Oghma Infinium, so please be sure to mark "Yes" if you have used it for that character in any way. #

Character Photo Uploading Guidelines
In the UCP, members are able to upload photos for each of the characters that they have created. Since the uploading of photos leaves a lot of leeway for members to do unwanted things, this guideline must be followed by all members when uploading photos for their characters. First, members are only permitted to upload files that are of a common image format (.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png). The uploading of files sporting any other file extensions are forbidden to be uploaded and will return an error on the photo uploading page if one tries to upload such a file. Second, photos must be no larger than 500,000 bytes (1,024 bytes = 1KB). Third, photos must have a width no longer than 1,280 pixels and a height no higher than 1,024 pixels. Any such images that do not comply with these guidelines will return an error on uploading. Finally, photos that are uploaded for characters must be either third person screenshots of the character from in-game Oblivion, or first person screenshots that show some sort of relation to the character that the photo is being uploaded for. Any photos that are uploaded that are not compliant with this guideline, or that have absolutely nothing to do with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be deleted on sight. Lastly, photos that are uploaded must not contain any of the following types of content: vulgar language, obscene language and/or imagery, pornographic imagery, non-Oblivion related imagery, copyrighted content, or any otherwise inappropriate or undesirable content. Violators of these guidelines will have such photos deleted and proper moderation action taken against them. #
