What do I do?

As you might know, I am moderating a forum for a while now. Something happened today, and I don't know what it means or how to fix it. Please help, to anyone who knows the answer.

I cannot access anything, not even the ACP, like it says.

Here is a photo of my dilema:

Alright, it looks like it is back to normal, but I've restarted the computer... that was odd. Anyone care to explain what just happened?

In phpBB, you cannot have a directory named install located in the root of your phpBB installation without having the forum also be disabled. Maybe you had an install directory in the phpBB root directory because you were installing a MOD or updating your forum, and then you simply forgot to remove or rename that directory afterward. That could have caused your problem. If that's not the issue, then it could also have been a database authentication issue instead. However, I would assume that it was just as the error described - you had a directory named install located in the phpBB root and that was causing the problem.

By the way, if you ever have any issues with using your phpBB forum, there is an excellent support community over at phpBB.com where you can post your questions and receive quick and efficient support. Not to mention, I'm a member of the Moderator Team there. 8-)

Thank you for the input. But, like I said, restarting my computer actually fixed the site, or so it seemed. Does that narrow the problem down for you?

Maybe it was just a problem with your browser session. Restarting the computer (or the program) usually can solve such spontaneous problems as that.

But it had to do with the entire server, because the other users could not access the site either. I don't think the error was on my part at all.

Perhaps it was, and in the time where you were not able to access the site while turning your system off, the problem was fixed, or ended. Sometimes some installations of PhpBB can muck up. Mine always did.

Thanks for the input, guys! You can consider this topic "dead".

True. phpBB isn't exactly "resource friendly", especially that 7+ MB file size. ;) I still love it, though. I would never go with any other forum software.

phpBB is what most people do. Or at least what most of the larger forums use.
