Ringo Starr is the drummer. And, it is possible for a drummer to play and sing at the same time. I've seen it. (Just this week actually. Awesome concert.)

Whenever he sings a song you can never tell he's playing the drums. Same thing happened in that concert. I want to see Ringo live now...

Not when you re-write the lyrics and play it right. I agree with you if you don't like the solo thingy that sounds jazz-ish. But other than that, it is good! It all depends on personal preference, I guess.
