No, not that. There are guides of fixing it by actually opening it up and using tools.

Well, I started playing BioShock again over the weekend, and decided to try and get the Seriously Good At This and Brass Balls achievements, which are for beating the game on hardest difficulty and beating the game on the hardest difficulty without using a Vita-Chamber. And yesterday I beat it and got both those achievements. So now, the only achievement I have left to get is Tonic Collector.
